How to Play 2048

2048 is a single-player sliding tile puzzle. The goal is to combine numbered tiles until you create one with the value 2048 — though you can keep playing for an even higher score after that.

Move: press an arrow key, W/A/S/D, or swipe on touch devices to slide every tile as far as possible in that direction.
Merge: when two tiles with the same number collide, they combine into one tile with double the value, and that value is added to your score.
New tile: after every move that changes the board, a new tile (2 or 4) appears in a random empty cell.
Win: reach a 2048 tile to win, or choose "Keep Playing" to chase a higher score.
Lose: the game ends when the board is full and no more merges are possible in any direction.
